What is VivaNet?
Rapid Cellular Imaging to Assist Physicians in Clinical Assessment of the Skin
Lucid's VivaNet® is intended to change how — and how fast — dermatologists can consult with other medical specialists. Using Viva Net, high resolution VivaScope® images taken in a doctor’s office can be transferred securely over Lucid’s VivaNet for review by appropriate specialists in near real-time. This allows the dermatologist to make an informed clinical judgment, for a variety of skin conditions — while the patient is still in the office. Thus VivaNet is a critical link that aids physicians in forming timely clinical decisions.

VivaNet uses the Internet to link medical specialists to dermatologists who utilize Lucid's noninvasive VivaScope confocal microscopes. These provide dermatoscopic-quality, full-color macroscopic pictures and — via Lucid's patented technology — reflectance confocal microscopy cellular resolution images of the patient's skin, in an all-digital format.
VivaNet provides fast, accurate, and secure storage, retrieval, and transfer of VivaScope digital cellular resolution images across the Internet, facilitating professional collaboration and consultation. During a typical session, once VivaScope images are captured, they are uploaded via the Internet, along with other patient-related data, to a secure VivaNet server. From there, the patient image set is immediately available for retrieval by and transfer to other authorized medical specialists.
The clear benefits arising from this combination of Lucid's patented VivaScope and VivaNet technologies — enabling near-real-time storage, retrieval, and communication of in vivo confocal images — is bringing these tools into routine clinical use in academic medical institutions and private dermatology practices.
